God’s Promises for your Restoration!
Lost years can never be restored literally; time once past is gone forever but there is a strange and wonderful way in which God can restore to you the wasted blessings of the lost years. He can visit the lost years and bring the blessings gone with them into the present. We have that assurance from the names He bears in Revelation chapter 1 verse 8:
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, Almighty.”
Restoration is highly scriptural with several old patriarchs who were beneficiaries. We have an account in 2nd Kings Chapter 8 verse 1 to 6. The woman had obeyed Elisha and forsaken her property, finding temporary help in the land of the Philistines. But when she returned to Israel, someone had confiscated her property. Imagine her surprise to discover Gehazi talking to the king at the very moment she came to press her case. We may never understand the reasons for our trials now, but certainly, they are working together for our good. How wonderful that believers have an inheritance that cannot be taken away.
It is written:
Psalm 51:12, 15
Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you. Unseal my lips, O Lord, that my mouth may praise you.
Isaiah1:26
Then the LORD will give me good judges again and wise counsellors like I used to have. Then Jerusalem (my home) will again be called the Home of Justice and the Faithful City.
Isa 57:18
The LORD has seen my [wilful] ways, but He will heal me; He will lead me also and will recompense me and restore comfort to me and to those who mourn for me.
Jeremiah 30:17-19
For the LORD will restore health to me, and He will heal my wounds, says the Lord, because they have called me an outcast, saying, this is Zion [your name], whom no one seeks after and for whom no one cares!
Thus says the Lord: Behold, He will release from captivity my tents and have mercy on my dwelling place; the city will be rebuilt on its own [old] moundlike site, and the palace will be dwelt in after its former fashion.
Out of them [city and palace] will come songs of thanksgiving and the voices of those who make merry. And the LORD will multiply me, and I will not be few; the LORD will also glorify me, and I will not be small.
Psalm 14:7
Oh, that my salvation would come out of Zion! When the Lord shall restore my fortunes, then I shall rejoice and I shall be glad.
Psalm 60:1
God, You have cast me off; you have broken me down; you have been displeased; Oh, restore me again!
Psalm 80:3
Restore us again, O God; and cause Your face to shine [in pleasure and approval on me], and I shall be saved!
Psalm 80:7
Restore me again, O God of hosts; and cause Your face to shine [upon me with favour as of old], and I shall be saved!
Psalm 80:17-19
Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, upon the son of man whom You have made strong for Yourself.
Then will I not depart from You; revive me (give me life) and I will call upon Your name.
Restore me, O Lord God of hosts; cause Your face to shine [in pleasure, approval, and favour on me], and I shall be saved!
Psalm 85:4
Restore me, O God of my salvation, and cause Your anger toward me to cease [forever]
Psalm 119:37
Turn away my eyes from beholding vanity (idols and idolatry); and restore me to vigorous life and health in Your ways.
Psalm 126:4
Turn to freedom my captivity and restore my fortunes, O Lord, as the streams in the South (the Negeb) are restored by the torrent.
Isaiah 14:2
…And my house will possess [the foreigners who prefer to stay with] me in the land of the Lord as male and female servants; and I will take captive not by physical but by moral might those whose captives I have been, and I will rule over my former oppressors.
Joel 2:24-26
And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil. And the LORD will restore to me the years that the locust has eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, His great army…And I shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD my God, that has dealt wondrously with me: and I shall never be ashamed.
Zephaniah 2:7-8
The coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed their flocks there; in the houses of Ashkelon they shall lie down at evening. For the Lord my God will intervene for me, and return my captives.
Zechariah 9:12
…Even today the LORD declares that He will restore double to me.
Shalom!
